A new concept of anchoring and directing forces was introduced in Orthodontics through the use of orthodontic mini-implants. Orthodontic mini-implants irreversibly changed the paradigms of orthodontic mechanics, as they allowed the movement of teeth in aid of the classic treatment of orthodontics, without altering the correct positioning of the resistance elements of the system. In addition, the different installation locations have expanded the possibilities for creating the most diverse types of mechanics, providing secure anchoring, resulting in more predictable, effective and brief treatments.
The foundation of mini-implant technology is based on mechanical stability, achieved through primary stability, which is defined as that obtained immediately after insertion. For the orthodontic mini-implant to present itself as an effective anchorage resource, it must have a design that associates resistance to functional orthodontic forces, ease of installation and removal, in addition to offering comfort to the patient. They create an additional form of anchoring and are removed after treatment. They can be used in the maxillary or mandibular bone, in the anterior, posterior and palate regions. Mini-implants have several clinical indications, including: anterior segment retraction, avoiding the use of headgear as an anchor reinforcement, molar verticalization, molar mesialization, anterior teeth intrusion, molar intrusion and upper and lower distalization.
Self-drilling body, in most cases, it does not require the use of a drill for its insertion. At the discretion of the professional, the 1.1 mm Drill, available in the Orthodontic Surgical Kit, can be used for marking and starting the introduction;
Simple thread cutting. This feature allows for a lighter insertion, that is, with softer torque, without bone compaction;
PecLab has several options of orthodontic mini-implant models to meet the most varied needs. The mini-implant must be selected according to the planning of tooth movement, as well as mucosal thickness and bone quality. PecLab has four general-purpose mini-implant models: S Button, S Bracket, HS Button and HS Bracket.
